British Occupational Hygiene Society. Occupational hygiene is the science of minimising the risks of ill-health caused by the working environment.
P&J is a corporate member, and several of our staff are individual members of the BOHS.
BOHS qualifications are recognised as evidence of certain competencies essential for the LEV industries.

 
 

The British Safety Council is one of the world's leading workplace health, safety and environmental organisations. As a member, P&J has access to up-to-date and accurate information and guidance on risk management, health, safety and environmental issues. Membership services help organisations manage risk, increase productivity and improve reputation.
P&J has been audited by the British Safety Council.

 
 

Contractors Health & Assessment Scheme. CHAS assesses health and safety for all types of suppliers, contractors, designers and consultants. The aim of the scheme is to save time and resources by avoiding unnecessary duplication in the assessment of the competence and health & safety compliance of potential suppliers.
P&J have been CHAS accredited since
2004.

 
 

Constructionline is a national register for pre-qualified contractors and consultants. Use of Constructionline to identify suitable potential suppliers is recommended by the OGC Common Minimum Standards and The Local Government Task Force.

 
 

 

Heating and Ventilation Contractors’ Association.
HVCA members are subject to regular, third-party inspection and assessment by BM Trada to ensure their technical and commercial competence.

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. Accreditation by UKAS means that P&J is a certification and inspection body that has been assessed against the internationally recognised standard ISO14001 to demonstrate our competence, impartiality and performance capability.

P&J are UKAS Accredited for LEV Commissioning and LEV Inspection & Examination Services.

 

 
 

The Woodworking Machinery Suppliers Association (WMSA) is the specialist woodworking trade association for businesses supplying industrial woodworking equipment in the UK market.
P&J have been members since

  Qualifications    
 

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 (as amended) place duties on employers, the self-employed, and any person who controls the work of others eg facilities  managers or building owners, who may contract others to work at height

If you purchase INSTALLATION of LEV you are a  duty holder with mandatory legal responsibilities.

Extracts from the Regulations that are especially relevant to any one arranging for an LEV installation or LEV Maintenance are highlighted below.

The Regulations require duty holders to ensure: 

  • all work at height is properly planned and organised;

  • all those involved in work at height are trained and competent. This includes involvement in organisation, planning, supervision, and the supply and maintenance of access equipment.;

  • equipment for work at height is appropriately inspected;

  • the risks from falling objects are properly controlled;

  • that the work is properly planned, appropriately supervised, and carried out in as safe a way as is reasonably practicable.

P&J’s staff who work on site or plan site work are experienced, trained, and certificated in Working Safely at Height.

The PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) is recognised worldwide across industries as proof of platform operator training to the highest standard. It is issued by the International Powered  Access Federation (IPAF) and conforms to the international standard ISO 18878:2004 Mobile elevating work platforms – Operator (driver) training.

 
 

The Work at Height Regulations 2005, require that the assembly, dismantling or alteration of Mobile Access Towers should only be undertaken by a competent person.
