Is a Vacuum cleaner Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV)?

No, a vacuum cleaner is not LEV when used for cleaning surfaces.

Yes, a vacuum cleaner is LEV if it is connected to a portable machine or tool. Therefore, the USE to which the vacuum cleaner is put determines if it is LEV. If it is used to CONTROL or EXTRACT dust emissions from a tool or machine then it is LEV and must be maintained and inspected in the same way as any other LEV/ DUST Extraction System.
